Book Review: Killers Of The Flower Moon

David Grann’s Killers of the Flower Moon (2018) is the non-fiction book about a series of murders that took place in the 1920’s in Osage nation, Oklahoma. A series of rich members of the Osage tribe began to die under mysterious circumstances. Investigations are started but the agents spearheading them also die under mysterious circumstances. WHo will be able to solve the murders and bring to justice the killers?

Amazing Story

I picked up this book because I read somewhere online they were planning to do a movie on it. I understand why anyone would want to. This book is fantastic. Grann managed to present the information on the Osage murders in an attention-catching way. He presented all the people involved in the story with a logical and emotional approach; they were not just players ina tragedy, he took the time to humanize them so the reader can get a better picture of the events.

Grann also achieved the perfect balance. He presented enough of his research without making the whole book a retelling of all the research he did. The way he set up the background scenery to convey the significance of an event is seamless. As you read this book, you are immersed in the events he’s examining and you become invested in the outcome of the investigation.

Final Thoughts

Please do yourself a favor and go read this book. You’ll learn about history and a terrible murder spree covered by corruption and apathy. It’s one of the best books I’ve ever read.
