Divide and Conquer: Tips on Productivity

Sometimes we bite off more than we can chew. Sometimes we think we bit off more than we can chew. What should we do whenever we find ourselves in any of these situations?
The best way I've found to tackle overwhelming tasks is to break them up into smaller parts and attack them one at a time. Once I do this, I discover I can work my way through the perceived insurmountable tasks with relative ease.
The idea of having too much to do sometimes paralyses us. Attacking the problem in bits helped me get through them. So next time you think you can't do anything that seems too difficult to accomplish, split it up.
The interesting thing about it this technique is that it not only works with tasks. You can apply this principle to almost any thing.
I remember reading about this back in high school. I think it was for a civics class I was taking. A comedian used this technique to write his jokes.
