Book Review: Luke Skywalker And The Shadows Of Mindor

The End Of The Empire Is Only The Beginning

Matthew Stover’s Luke Skywalker And The Shadows Of Mindor (2008) takes place after the destruction of the Death Star. Even though the Death Star is destroyed, it doesn’t mean that the empire is completely destroyed. The remnants of the empire are committing acts of terrorism and piracy, they want to destroy the new fledging republic. It is up to Luke and the rest of the rebels to stop them once and for all.

The Story Continues

Even though this story is not exactly canon anymore, it merits a read. This story sheds new light on Luke. We see Luke as a little more experienced rebel. He is now a General in the new government and this means new types of demands. He needs to be the leader the new republic needs. Stover does a great job of keeping the tone of the world consistent with the franchise.

Final Thoughts

You should read this book. I think it’s an important puzzle in the story of Luke Skywalker. I thought it was really interesting to see the classic characters after the empire is defeated. I highly recommend this book.
