Book Review: Dark Lord: The Rise Of Darth Vader

From Anakin to Vader

James Luceno’s  Dark Lord: The Rise Of Darth Vader (2005) is about the fall of Anakin Skywalker. The book takes place after the events in The Revenge of The Sith. The Jedi knights are being eradicated and Lord Vader will join in on the hunt.

Anti-Hero

It’s not every day that the protagonist of a  Star Wars novel is an anti-hero. I am a sucker for happy endings. I just don’t gravitate toward novels with sad endings. When this book came out I didn’t want to read it. I knew I wasn’t going to like the ending. We all know what happens, by the way. The three original Star Wars movies is all about stopping Darth Vader.

P.O.V.

What I liked about this novel is the point of view. I got a front-row seat to the descent of Anakinn Skywalker. It was really interesting to be Darth Vader for once.

Final Thoughts

If you have ever wondered what drove Anakin Skywalker to become a bad guy, this is the book for you.
