Book Review: Daredevil: The Cutting Edge

Madeleine E. Robins’ Daredevil: The Cutting Edge (1990) brings the Daredevil against a serial killer called The Cutter. There’s something different about this killer; after their first fight Daredevil discovers that he can’t see the killer. Daredevil needs to find The Cutter before he takes another victim.

Expanding The Lore

I didn’t really know much about Daredevil before the Netflix show. The only other exposure to the superhero was the 2003 movie with Ben Affleck in the titular role. From that movie, I learned that the superhero was blind and that his girlfriend was Elektra. After the movie was released, I think everyone who saw the movie chose to forget it ever existed and moved on with their lives. Thank goodness for the Netflix show. When the show was released, Daredevil’s stock raised in value. I was hooked. I needed to learn more about the character. Now, I know that the book was released way before the Netflix show, but the essence of the character was there. Robins does a great job at pitting Daredevil with a perfect adversary. The one thing that makes Daredevil a superhero is the one thing he can’t rely on.

Final Thoughts

I recommend this book to any fans of the Netflix show or Daredevil character. It’s a solid story with a satisfying conclusion. I highly recommend this book.
