Book Review: American Vampire Omnibus Vol.1

Scott Snyder, Stephen King and Rafael Albuquerque are the creator of American Vampire Omnibus Vol. 1 (2018) is a new type of vampire story. This graphic novel is the first compilation of the comic by the same name. The comic follows a new type of vampire as he makes his way through American history.

Fresh Take On Vampires

This book has the name Stepehn King on the cover, there is no way this is going to suck. This story is great. Bloody, but great. King and Snyder make the audience like certain characters and hate others. They accomplish this to a spectacular level. They kept me turning the pages as the vampires and their enemies did whatever they needed to do in order to gain an advantage. More often than not, it felt as if the vampires and their enemies were the giants and innocent humans were the tiny, regular-sized humans getting crushed . The story pace is fantastic. One story section blends into the next with ease.

Since this graphic novel is a compilation of various comic they don’t have one singular artist, but they are all works-class talents. The colors are vibrant and the story squares are clear. I never felt unclear as I turned the pages. They threw in different story frames shapes to prevent  monotony, and let me tell you, it does.

Final Thoughts

I recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of vampire stories. Be warned, this is not for kids—there is a lot of blood in here.If you have an issue with this type of material, I recommend you stay away from it.
